Centrum Výzkumu Řež

The Research center Řež (CVR) is a research, development, and innovation organization focused on sustainable energy production with a particular emphasis on nuclear power and next-generation energy systems.

CVR's primary mission is to develop ideas, technologies, and solutions in the field of sustainable energy production. While nuclear power is a key area of focus, the company also provides services to industries beyond nuclear energy applications. CVR boasts significant research and experimental infrastructure on a global scale. This includes research reactors such as LVR-15 and LR-0, as well as technological loops that support the development of safe and sustainable low-carbon energy technologies.

Research activities at CVR cover various areas, with a strong emphasis on material research and extending the lifespan of existing nuclear power plants. The centre also focuses on the development of advanced nuclear reactors, nuclear fusion technologies, and small modular reactors. Nuclear waste management and disposal, nuclear safety, energy storage, and education and training of the younger generation are other important research areas at CVR.

In the SANE project, CVR leads WP5, which is dedicated to the dissemination, communication, and exploitation of project results. This role ensures that SANE’s advancements in nuclear energy and safety reach a wide audience, foster collaboration, and enhance the project’s visibility. Additionally, CVR contributes to WP2 and WP4, focusing on the evaluation of deterministic safety assessment tools, radiological risk, and effective risk communication. It is also involved in WP1, specifically in a preparatory study on the use of SMR to supply energy for industrial applications and central heating systems.
