VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland Ltd is an independent, leading research organization that provides applied research services across a broad spectrum of technology fields, including nuclear energy.

Its research, development, and innovation efforts are organized into three core areas which are carbon neutral solutions, sustainable products and materials and digital technologies. 


In the field of nuclear energy, VTT offers end-to-end services that support the entire lifecycle of nuclear power plants, from feasibility studies and licensing assistance to long-term operational safety, waste management, and decommissioning. 


As the coordinator and leader of WP2 within the SANE project, VTT plays a pivotal role in advancing innovative applications of nuclear technology. Its research focuses on evaluating future uses of nuclear heat, establishing simulation benchmarks, and exploring applications such as CO₂ direct air capture and hydrogen production. VTT also leads efforts in developing advanced risk communication strategies, alongside deterministic and probabilistic accident analysis methods tailored for next-generation reactors.
